12MC has this über-post about a random singer called Nikka Costa covering “The Denial Twist” by The White Stripes. Here’s the full post :

Filing this one under “WTF” is an understatement. Nikka Costa’s jive talkin’ take on “The Denial Twist” is hands down the most unnecessary White Stripes’ cover this side of Jack Johnson’s sleep-inducing rendition of “We’re Going To Be Friends” from the Curious George Soundtrack. Admittedly, I have no idea who Nikka Costa is. But after a few seconds of hearing her totally funked up, bam-chicka-bam butchering of the Get Behind Me Satan classic – it sounds like some kind of nightmare episode of Idol circa 2017 with the unimaginative theme of ‘Funkin’ Up Noughties Garage Rock!’

Further Costa research (aka – Wiki-stalking) reveals that one of her songs “featured extensively in the critically-acclaimed television series ‘Arrested Development’, so she can’t be that bad. Oh wait, she can – “In 2006 Nikka and her husband Justin recorded and performed the theme to the short-lived CBS sitcom ‘Courting Alex’, which starred Jenna Elfman.”

You gotta love the fact that a few chosen words can have a massive impact. Thanks Angus for brightening up our days and making us laugh ! And for that matter, saving the Stripes’ dignity.
