Dark Light
Sharer – “Body Tonight” (spin above)… When JD Samson and Young & Sick team up you get an unlikely and very dancey track. As well as hopes for more in that field. “Body Tonight” is a brilliant summer track filled with the best intentions. JD Samson is best known for being one third of Feminist Dance Punk Performance Project, “Le Tigre” and has been around the New York scene for quite a bit DJing and travelling the world to satisfy our musical cravings. Recently pairing up with the frenchies from The Aikiu on a stellar track. So it’s with no surprise that Jo Lampert (of Tune-Yards) rose up to the vocals without a beat and delivered with flying colors…

With the amount of music I have to spin, I can only select a few to do write ups on – it’s a one man operation here, and my grey cells are dwindling by the hour – so here’s a little weekly bonus selection of music we haven’t had the time to cover but really do recommend nonetheless. These one liners are where I usually start my posts. It’s packed with the latest tracks, gems, and dancefloor goodness you’ve come to expect from Sodwee.com. [title maintitle=”BEST OF THE REST” subtitle=”Select tabs on left…”] [tabgroup layout=”vertical”] [tab title=”PREP”]Cheapest Flight is the debut track by PREP, a new upcoming band on the block with pretty great resumé on the production front. Taking inspiration from artists like Steely Dan, Michael McDonald and Bobby Caldwell, PREP transpire elements of R&B, Funk, Jazz & Pop in a modern electronic environment.

[/tab] [tab title=”ART OF SHADES”]All Away (ft. Soukaïna). Just bescause the music video is worth it. Shot in one take with an hexacopter drone and the likes of two talented dancers and the expertise of Colin Solal Cardo in the field : watch here.

[/tab] [tab title=”KILL J”]Propaganda -Just because it’s a killer track. Everything you’d want from Kill J’s infectious composition is here. Listen… instead :

[/tab] [tab title=”DOE PAORO”]Growth/Decay – another must listen here… A downtempo, brilliantly R&B-influenced which Doe Paoro co-wrote with Sterling Fox (who has worked with Lana Del Rey, among others). The track is about the notion that change fuels all life… And well, fits perfectly with my current mood. Listen instead :

[/tab] [tab title=”SB”]Woman – With his own unique blend of RnB, Sb is the most exciting thing to come out of Lancashire since Northern Soul. With an intro like that you cannot go wrong. Blending playful synths, jazz-influenced guitar lines and vocals that sit atop a backdrop of trap-infused beats, Woman is his debut release. The 22-year-old producer draws inspiration from the cultural melting pot of South London where he currently resides, as well as the mellow, brooding roots of rural Lancashire. Feverishly inspired by artists like D’Angelo, TLC and an array of other artists/acts…
