Dark Light

All photo credits go to Sophie Jarry, whom we cannot thank enough for providing us with those exquisite live pictures throughout the festival. She totally delivered and braved the high decibels of some acts to bring back a close insider look into what went down during the event that took place last weekend in Paris. Hope you enjoy them and recount the good times like we did ! And please go ahead and follow her her online profiles :

Our hopes were real high for this years Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris, in my own arrondissement. Last year, we were totally blown away by the whole sold out event. So we headed out to the venue happy chirpy and registered with the media/guests box office and got the almighty, coveted press pass for the weekend. Lucky, yes, we are.

We got in there for the Only Real opening and discovered first hand the great thing to come for them. Already backed up by french producers extraordinaire The Shoes, their real wicked Surf Rock/Rap approach is second to none. Impressive stuff you will get to hear a lot of as they venture outside of their London hood…

The Pitchfork Music Festival is a feast for all senses. Literally. Sights are amazing. With great care taken on the lighting effects, the overall venue was beautifully lit. Stage-wide and public areas too. Making it more of an experience all together. Grubs. High-end as predicted. With a selection of “Gourmet” burgers, hot-dogs and french viennoiseries and pâtisseries to satisfy the hungry hipsterati in the cold  autumn settling in…

After downing a beauty of a burger I went for more live action. Blood Orange delivered a great, sexy set with a complete live band and amazing dance moves that was infectious enough, soulful enough to permeate to the sizeable audience here to witness Dev Hynes this early in the evening.

Highlight for day one included Mount Kimbie and their precise set that got the whole crowd going but awards must go to DARKSIDE and the blend of amazing electro/minimalist approach to rock, blues that is just beyond words. Not to mention Dave Harrington’s work on guitar and Nicolas Jaar feel for a well layed vocal substance and kudos to whoever came up with that huge round mirror metaphore for the stage set. Part light beacon/lighthouse effect, part mirror moon of a very minimalistic fashion… The whole device was couple with a projector and was pivoting. BRILLIANT. The set was electrifying. The crowd went mental as the “Paper Trails” riff was gently faded in by Harrington Jaar’s composition…
