Dark Light
Directed and filmed by Sam King and Liam Martin.

We present to you today “One Of Each”, the latest track and video we’re proud to premiere on Sodwee.com. A video directed and filmed by Sam King and Liam Martin for Maiians. The latest sensation out of Oxford, England. Maiians are a 5-piece band that already sprung on our radar earlier last year with their hypnotic debut single called “Lemon”.

Do you like to be taken on a journey ? Do you like epic instrumentals, post rock guitars, percussive synth lines and a rather haunting, dystopian sample ? Well, “One Of Each” is your answer. The track is brilliantly mastered and manages to be highly addictive, and unsettling at the same time. It’s 8 minutes of pure pleasure. Like a clever mix between Four Tet and Caribou.

The video brings human unease and paranoia at the center of its narrative. Think of it as a musical version of the forward thinking british series “Black Mirror”. Sam King says about the video :

We wanted the video to mirror the energy of the song; slow building, moving up piece by piece over time. There’s something slightly disorienting about the track, and I liked the idea of the visuals being quite abstract and sinister – people can interpret the ‘chasers’ to be whatever they want.

Maiians are set to perform their first London show as headliners at The Sebright Arms next January 19th with the support from Mountain Range & Forced Random. So if you’re a Londoner yourself, or you manage to be there that evening, please go enjoy yourself with good company, around a beer (or two) and some cool new jams.
