Dark Light

Soft, delicate, relatable. Three adjectives that could easily and appropriately describe Berlin-based singer-songwriter Melis‘ and her debut hit song “Love Song Idea” which is about to skyrocket through the charts. Or so I believe. Melis produced “Love Song Idea” by herself. She had it safely stored on her hard-drive but before they could deliver it for post-production. The device failed. Miserably. Left with peanuts and a handful of bare bones stems of the song. Melis decided to mix it to the best of her ability and master it for the world to hear. Here is the final result, in all it’s innocent glory. Glorious songwriting and near perfect instrumentation and vocal delivery. Enjoy + follow her on her blank socials further down…

He said you can’t admit your faults
There is no truth within your bones
You should carry on alone
I know it’s wrong
But I never really loved you

She said I tried so many times
To make it work for you and I
Crossed my heart and swore to die
And you wonder why
Why I never really loved you

My friends say I should leave
But your advice is all I need
So give me space and let me breathe
I don’t know why
Why I never really loved you

But I’ll be there for you, I’ll be there for you
Every time you call
But I’ll be there for you, I’ll be there for you
Every time you fall
But I’ll be there for you, I’ll be there for you
Be there through all

Though I never really loved you
He said I can’t admit my faults
There is no truth within my bones
I should carry on alone
I know I’m wrong
When I say I never loved you
