Dark Light

We’ve witnessed the band Hugh grow. Topping the Hype Machine charts on multiple occasions but never got round to actually sit down and listen to their art. Until a few days back when Joshua kindly sent in the newly dropped album “Love, Hugh” for us to enjoy and maybe, just maybe, review or feature on the blog. So here we are. Honestly, I didn’t really catch on with the first video for the single “Go”, although the video was really well produced and directed. I wasn’t sold just yet:

But that sentiment just changed having heard the album from end to end. It totally grew on us and filled a void we had been longing to fill since AlunaGeorge came and apparently went. Blending electronics with a smooth, melancholic mix of R&B and synthpop only Londoners and britons alike can produce. It’s the clever vocal harmonies and dueting power delivered by Joshua and Izzy that gels the album together and brings the trademark sound and signature to life here. Effectively making it their own, as well as differentiating them from anything else out there at the moment. It’s a must listen and a recurrent go-to afternoon album playing session since we got it ! We’d recommend you get your hands on the “Love, Hugh” album pronto.

London-based quartet Hugh released their anticipated debut album ‘Love, Hugh’ on the 25th May 2017

On a side but noteworthy note, Hugh is also at this time unsigned it seems. Which isn’t going to last… Yes, you heard me right. UNSIGNED.
