Dark Light

We’re very excited for the future of the Montreal music scene when we come across new bands like Florda Well. We have high hopes this psychedelic-pop band with a sprinkle of electronic layers thrown in to the mix will make it big because of how strong the debut single sounds. It’s a quite a bold statement from the opening verse of the track:

I see eye to eye
You see folded arms,
I know It’s all for show

Being so new out there, Florda Well hasn’t got much going for us to munch on. However, we can say they’re backed by some leading management (also responsible for acts like Tei Shi, Ought or Timber Timbre) and are already slotted to perform at Le Ministere with Yamantaka and Sonic Titan on November 18th (this coming Saturday for any of you in the vicinity) at the M for Montreal Festival. We can also reveal the mysterious band members behind the project who roam by H Shper, his brother P, and friends E Tighe N Ward. and borrowed their band name from the famous mythological fountain of youth allegedly discovered by Ponce de León in Florida back in 1513. A spring that supposedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks or bathes in its waters.

[accordion] [item title=”LYRICS SHEET”]I want to say it’s alright
Alright has passed along the way though

I see eye to eye
You see folded arms, I know
It’s all for show

When you pass me by
It’s that little boy you know
So long ago

So get on spaceship, turn into space
I know it’s all, I know it’s all a game
I won’t say anything

So fall into baseness, turn into sand
I know there’s not a gun held to your head
That’s not for anything

Won’t you say it’s all
Won’t you say it’s so

Get on spaceship, turn into space
I know it’s all, I know it’s all a game
I won’t say anything

Fall into baseness, turn into sand
I know there’s not a gun held to your head
It’s not for anything

In the dead silence
When you feel so light
And you’re falling down
Thinking life is on again

But you want, too bad
And you try, too hard
And you wish you had something on your mind
You gotta get that

High love, it’s the one you want, one you’ve dreamed
I won’t be the inspiration for your made up bliss this time
High love, it’s the kinda thing that’ll make you ache yeah
Everyone is kicking like an encore for a chorus line
Heaven knows, it’s enough to drive you one step closer
So won’t you go, and leave it all behind

I want to say it’s alright
Alright has passed along the way though

High love, it’s the one you want, one you’ve dreamed
High love, it’s gonna trick yah, high love you get that
High love, it’s the kinda thing that’ll make you ache yeah
High love, it’s gonna break yah
High love, you gotta get that[/item] [/accordion]

“High Love” is the debut track from Montreal psych-pop band. It was written and recorded during the coldest, darkest part of the year, the track explores a hazy trip down memory lane. But listen to the glorious track instead:
