It’s been close to 7 years since we first posted about Chela. Back then, she tore through the noise with a brilliant piece of pop music titled “Romanticise”, subsequently picked up by Kitsuné and other tastemakers from around the world. She had blasted through our speakers with a true bang with another brilliant cover of Caribou’s world famous “Jamelia” for our little eardrums to lap up repeatedly. Today and in the wake of a first single named “Losing Belief”, the Filipino-Australian art-pop artist Chela (Chelsea Wheatley in real life) comes back front and center with a brand new cut from the forthcoming EP “Delivery” due out on October 23rd this year. It’s a perfect blend of ship-sharp electronica and a dash of dazzling electro-pop.
Co-produced with the help of Le Bruce in the wonderful city of Melbourne (one of the nicest places to live according to past rankings). No wonder then, you’ll find plenty of sun soaked melodies, light-hearted arrangements and some of the cleverest lines I’ve heard this summer layered geniusly with Chela‘s precise vocal work.

Chela reveals this about “Heart O’ Hearts”:
“I wrote this song about inner conflict resolution, the good vs. the evil, the positive voice in one ear reckoning with the negative on the other side. It’s a mantra for quieting down the dark side of yourself.”
