Dark Light

It’s been a hot minute since we covered Sorcha Richardson. Actually, it’s been seven years since we introduced her music to you readers. And we’re kind of impressed at the journey she’s taken sonically since then. Preparing the foundation for a debut album titled ‘First Prize Bravery’ due to be released this fall. New York Based, Dublin (Ireland) born Sorcha Richardson announced the release of the first single “Don’t Talk About It” today and we’re pleased to share it with you.

“Don’t Talk About It” is a brilliant piece of bedroom pop with a 90s retro feel to it. Bringing slap-back delays, synths and Sorcha‘s echoing vocals to new heights. It’s a new sonic direction that has matured over the years. Just like a prized bottle of red wine you put aside for a special occasion. Opening it as planned and ending up in the best return on investment you have ever made. The song’s anthemic chorus is to die for alongside those guitar lines. Take a listen instead:

Richardson says of “Don’t Talk About It:

“It’s a song about avoiding conflict and trying to keep the peace, no matter how much you end up sacrificing in order to do so. Sometimes it feels much easier to convince yourself that you’re happy in a relationship, or in a city, or in a job, than to admit to yourself that you’re not, and to have to drag that problem out the light and deal with it. But that never works, and when you leave a problem alone, 99% of the time it just grows and grows until you can’t ignore it. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way, more than once. This is a song about what you end up losing when you smile and hold your tongue, but also what an achievement it is when you do learn to confront a situation that scares you.”
