Can you explain the origin of your moniker\u00a0?<\/h5>\n<p>It\u2019s not nobility, it\u2019s more about being confident and just like reigning whatever I do at the moment. It comes from a Tarot cards. The first reading I got was the Empress, so I thought \u00ab\u00a0ok, whatever, I\u2019m the Empress\u00a0\u2026 of\u00a0!\u00a0\u00bb <em>(laughing)<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><div class=\"su-pullquote su-pullquote-align-right\">&#8220;I don\u2019t write in NY because it\u2019s too stressful&#8221; &#8211; Empress Of on song writing&#8230;<\/div><\/h3>\n<h5>Your first album Me was released in September. As the title suggests it\u2019s very introspective and it deals with the different steps you lived after a breakup. Which song was the most difficult to write\u00a0?<\/h5>\n<p>&#8220;Threat&#8221;, it was really hard to write it because it\u2019s about when you\u2019re trying to forget someone but you keep thinking about them. The memories are a threat and I\u2019m writing a song about it so it\u2019s an endless circle\u00a0! <em>(laughing)<\/em>. Icon was also very hard because it was just about being alone. The lyrics are literally I\u2019m just in a room with the lights on and nobody knows I\u2019m their icon. I\u2019ve been working on this record for months and months and nobody knew about it, nobody could care less. It\u2019s like very introspective\u00a0!<\/p>\n<h5>Contrary to your EP Systems, you chose to sing in English only. Why\u00a0?<\/h5>\n<p>Just because I wanted to be really straightforward. I didn\u2019t want to confuse anything. I wanted it to be \u00ab\u00a0this is what it is\u00a0!\u00a0\u00bb. That\u2019s why it\u2019s called me, that\u2019s why the cover is like no style, no make up. I borrowed that shirt from someone. I didn\u2019t want to have songs in English, songs in Spanish. That is so nerdy\u00a0! I love it, it\u2019s really good!<\/p>\n<h5>Thank you\u00a0! \u00a0You moved from LA to NY and I read you were actually moving back to LA\u00a0! Did you get tired of Brooklyn or do you only miss California\u00a0?<\/h5>\n<p>I miss my mum, the warm weather and the palm trees and I am tired of New York so yes, you\u2019re right <em>(laughing)\u2026<\/em> all of that\u00a0! \u00a0I\u2019m excited to move.<\/p>\n<h5>Do you think that your way to write songs will be different in LA\u00a0?<\/h5>\n<p>I don\u2019t write in NY because it\u2019s too stressful, that\u2019s why I went to Mexico to write a record. I\u2019m gonna see if I can write in LA\u00a0. If I can\u2019t do it I will move somewhere else.<\/p>\n<h5>You were part of a band, Celestial Shore.
