There\u2019s a nostalgia with old films that people will soon forget. The sound of a reel clicking, the sight of a flickering burn mark in the corner signaling the need for a change\u00a0will leave the\u00a0projector whirling for a single audience member. They\u2019ll hear a different kind of soundtrack thats slipped through the cracks in an oddly enchanting way. It\u2019s an atmospheric sound that settles for a ghostly touch, a feeling that\u2019s uniquely\u00a0Daughter\u00a0<\/em>(after a\u00a0touch of Halsey<\/em> and Transviolet<\/em>). Say hello to\u00a0Garden Echo<\/strong>. We\u2019re not even sure how this 4-piece band from San Diego slipped under the radar in 2015.<\/p>\n

Their self-released debut EP \u201cQuiet Voices\u201d is like an invitation to an\u00a0underwater garden party.\u00a0Garden Echo<\/strong>\u2018s speciality lies in their ability to set a specific\u00a0mood without telling you how to feel.\u00a0\u201cQuiet Voices\u201d is like sitting at the bottom of a pool without any of the panic. Linked by\u00a0sweet, thoughtful vocals and electrifying instrumentals, every song off \u201cQuiet Voices\u201d holds its own.<\/p>\n

Aptly named \u201cPoolside,\u201d the first track reminds us of watching light ripple and reflect over night waters. \u201cIt\u2019s Alright\u201d ends with a plucking\u00a0rhythm that\u2019s like watching stars slowly illuminate the sky. But it\u2019s \u201cNighthawk\u201d that sits on\u00a0our heart with this prized line that showcases the mastery behind their songwriting skills:<\/p>\n

Formed initially as a writing project between friends Alexia Villarino<\/em> and Sara Swanson<\/em>, Garden Echo <\/strong>didn\u2019t fully blossom until Andrew Moberly<\/em> (guitars) and Josh Edwards<\/em> (drums) joined.\u00a0Now their\u00a0delicate sound floats between the genres of electronic, indie-pop and rock so smoothly that it\u2019s no surprise to learn that each member often switch instruments during their live shows as well.
