As I mentioned yesterday<\/a>, I’m currently on a bit of a 70’s punk-inspired kick.<\/p>\n

Enter Brooklyn garage golden boys The Britanys<\/strong>: part-Is This It <\/em>era Strokes, part-Arctic Monkeys, the scrappy four-piece has been a live staple<\/a> in the New York region for quite some time but are finally getting more widespread notice thanks to their blazing guitars, knack for raucous melodies, show-stopping live shows, and no-bullshit attitude.<\/p>\n

And it doesn’t hurt\u00a0that their most recent release, “Basketholder”, was produced by Gordon Raphael\u00a0(The Strokes’\u00a0Is This It<\/em>, Regina Spektor’s\u00a0Soviet Kitch<\/em>), and that they recently got to open for one of their favorite acts, Hinds, at their recent sold-out show at the iconic Bowery Ballroom.<\/p>\n

New York garage rock is on its way back in: after\u00a0the 70’s (The Velvet Underground, New York Dolls)\u00a0and\u00a0the early-00’s (The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs),\u00a0here’s to hoping we get a third wave.<\/p>\n
