Two weeks ago, Oakland producer and artist\u00a0<strong>birthday<\/strong> dropped\u00a0that four tracks that embody the perfect hazy summer days. In the era of chillwave,\u00a0<strong>birthday<\/strong>\u00a0mixes harmonies and a\u00a0lo-fi effect to his tracks that make everything sound like it\u2019s been around since the early 2000s when music videos were always shot on the beach and all your friends knew (or wanted) to skate. That feeling is especially strong in\u00a0<em>Grown Up Kids<\/em>, which\u00a0<strong>birthday<\/strong>\u00a0brilliantly pulls off as a youthful anthem for kids and those who occasionally suffer from\u00a0a Peter Pan complex.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The nostalgia is real, guys (and <strong>birthday<\/strong> is\u00a0only 20).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each song speaks to a different emotion.\u00a0<em>Babyface\u00a0<\/em>is particularly good with isolating out that internal longing.\u00a0<em>Subtle Love\u00a0<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>is a bit of a melodic wonderland that moves\u00a0listeners from one harmony to the next. <strong>birthday<\/strong> is\u00a0poignant in his lyrics, like in\u00a0<em>Le Drugs<\/em>\u00a0when he sings:\u00a0\u201c<em>Will you love til the drugs are gone and you move on\u2026*<\/em>\u201d and hits\u00a0all the right\u00a0feelings without telling you how.
