In the back room where the walls are riddled with autographs from previous bands like MSMR, The Killers and more, I sit on collapsed cushions with Rationale<\/strong> as he rolls a lemon back and forth in his hand. There\u2019s sliced ginger in a cup and he mentions that he\u2019s a bit sick and hopes voice doesn\u2019t go out halfway through his San Francisco show (spoiler: It doesn\u2019t).<\/p>\n

\u201cI think if my album were a TV program, it\u2019d be like Breaking Bad.\u201d \u2013 Rationale<\/div><\/h2>\n

With the echoing bass of soundcheck going on, we dip into the conversation about music discovery and Sodwee. I bashfully admit that I\u2019ve never listened to Tame Impala<\/em>. Of course, Rationale<\/strong> suggests I do, but also notes that there\u2019s something special about organic discovery\u00a0versus being told to listen to something. Which is true and ironic to admit, especially for a music blogger. Stumbling upon an album, artist or track on your own is amazingly satisfying like finding a perfectly shaped\u00a0dew drop.\u00a0So we\u2019re happy to say\u00a0that authentic discovery is\u00a0exactly how we came across Rationale<\/strong>\u2018s music.<\/p>\n

Despite only having played one US show in LA, Rationale<\/strong> has already noticed a difference between the crowds in US and UK. (By now we have moved outdoors, away from the noise, and are sitting by\u00a0\u201cThe Temple,\u201d a wooden sculpture also covered in signatures of less famous people.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been really a revelation as to how much love there is over here for me. The energy is intense, people aren\u2019t afraid to dance. Sometimes there\u2019s a bit of reserved energy in the UK, but here I dance like an idiot on stage and people do the exact same thing with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
