Buy\/stream Blue Ceilings by The Franklin Electric<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Some covers speak volumes about the books they bind. The second my eyes fell on the breathtaking\u00a0artwork for\u00a0The Franklin Electric<\/strong>\u2018s<\/strong> new record \u201cBlue Ceilings\u201d, two thoughts ran through my head. Firstly, that I need to hear the track sitting in front of me right away and, secondly, that there\u2019s no way this music will be able to paint a picture as vivid as this photo. Fortunately, I was wrong as usual.<\/p>\n

The track is \u2018Save Yourself\u2019, an arresting tune\u00a0from the\u00a0Indica Records<\/strong> signees that utilizes tension and release in some dazzling ways. Jon Matte, the Montreal-based band\u2019s musical mastermind, has outdone himself with the\u00a0songwriting here; and his band, consisting of\u00a0Martin Desrosby, Kevin Warren and Ken Press\u00e9, display a level of chemistry that is, well, electric. A rhythmically driven ballad that feels as crestfallen as it does triumphant, \u201cSave Yourself\u201d is blazing with the same fiery reds and icy blues as that unmissable\u00a0artwork.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the books we read of a rising hope<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unforgiven love in the words you spoke<\/p>\n

And that you never meant it, did the best you know<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the father\u2019s son that can save you from\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Much like their labelmates\u00a0Half Moon Run<\/strong> and\u00a0Phantogram,\u00a0<\/strong>The Franklin Electric<\/strong> are well on their way to marking their own unique territory within the vast landscape of Alternative music. Take a hit of the gateway drug that is \u2018Save Yourself\u2019, dive down the rabbit hole with \u201cBlue Ceilings\u201d, and catch the band on tour in Canada and the U.K. this year.<\/p>\n
