If there\u2019s one word to sum up the occasion it is bittersweet, but better to look back over the fond memories, yeah?<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8SJmWSWQgdM?version=3&rel=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&fs=1&hl=en-US&autohide=2&wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The first I heard of <strong>The Maccabees<\/strong> was \u2018Toothpaste Kisses\u2019 at ripe old age of eleven, it was on a film soundtrack and it was just so quaintly lovely that I couldn\u2019t help but listen to all two and half minutes of it\u2019s glory for hours, looping it on the good old days of listening to music on YouTube. Branching out to further albums <strong>The Maccabees<\/strong> became part of my teenage years, by the time\u00a0<em>Wall of Arms\u00a0<\/em>came out I was truly enamored.<\/p>\n<p>There are some formative teenage memories that have been sound tracked by<strong> The Maccabees<\/strong>. I remember listening to \u2018Ayla\u2019 on repeat walking home from my first house party, the first taste of teenage rebellion and freedom on my lips. You have no idea how many road-trips\u00a0<em>Colour It In\u00a0<\/em>livened up.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/198578599&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/217011809&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>By the time\u00a0<em>Marks To Prove It\u00a0<\/em>was out I was seventeen and finally had the pleasure of catching <strong>The Maccabees<\/strong> live. When I got to the O2 Academy in Newcastle it genuinely felt like my chest was beating so hard it was going to the Alien thing and explode. Thankfully not though, I just had one of the best nights of my life instead. It\u2019d been eighteen months maybe two years since I\u2019d given any of your music a proper spin but somehow even your new music felt nostalgic, homely and lived in.<\/p>\n<p>Now fast-forward to 2017, \u00a0my music taste expanded vastly but it still breaks my heart a little bit to know you\u2019re breaking up. I\u2019m happy to see <strong>The Maccabees<\/strong> go out on a high, and one of the biggest highs of their careers but you will be missed. Thank you for the soundtrack to my teenage years. As I approach the big 20 it seems fitting to let go of one of the big parts of the past decade, so I guess that leaves me with nothing to say but farewell, and thanks for the
