I knew right there and then, that I&#8217;d be covering the track &#8220;Tr Pp N&#8221; (<em>pronounced Trippin&#8217; ?<\/em>) by <strong>Dwen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teh East London outfit already released two tracks last year, &#8220;Dread&#8217;ard&#8221; and &#8220;Ponytail&#8221; (listen in PASSPORT section). The new single and past tracks channel some Blood Orange, Toro Y Moi and Arthur Russell among other underground artists. The trio&#8217;s name, <strong>Dwen<\/strong>, is derived from the mischievous mythological entities found in Trinidad &amp; Tobago but also a play around the term &#8216;Duende&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/573814779&#038;color=%23343c3c&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dwen<\/strong> explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201c<em>exploring the conflict and ambivalence of some relationships, half ironically, but with an appreciation for what these songs\u00a0mean and the universal\u00a0feeling\u00a0they convey, however contrived they seem on the surface.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The band are based out of a DIY studio in East London functioning has a creative hub for many up-and-coming artists and musicians including the likes of Ama Lou and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Fabiana Palladino (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/sodwee.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/introducing-fabiana-palladino\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fabiana Palladino<\/a>.
