Dark Light

Stubborn Heart‘s are the darlings from London’s very own Rough Trade and have been for quite some time now. In fact they’ve set ears buzzing last year with a (then unidentified) white label 12” and followed it up with the ‘Need Someone’ EP on Kaya Kaya records this summer before moving on to One Little Indian. As they put it, the eponymous album that came out on the 5th of November spills with rolling beats and dark, atmospheric space, Stubborn Heart are equally inspired by 80’s and 90’s electronic music and 60’s and 70’s soul (the album includes a cover of Reuben Bell & The Casanovas rare soul 45 It’s Not That Easy), the clean, ghostly production coalesces with Luca’s mournful vocal to positively ooze a bruised melancholy. The track we featured, “Interpol”, is quite representative of the fantastic electric soul that Stubborn Heart belt out so perfectly. No wonder these guys are getting the press in such a state overseas ! IT’S GOOD. DAMN GOOD. Make sure you pick up a copy of their album and go see them live (dates below) :
