Dark Light

After gaining some well deserved accolades by Prince (yes, the “Purple Rain” dude himself) and featuring amongst today’s top act including Chance The Rapper. The Detroit raised but Chicago based soul artist Eryn Allen Kane has finally released visuals and a Soundcloud link to her debut track “Have Mercy” today. And my sorry self has been wowed over by the sheer rawness yet smooth as vocal performance.

The track “Have Mercy by Eryn Allen Kane is taken from her debut EP, ‘Aviary’

It’s a no frills, no mucking around song. You’ll get chills if you listen to it loud enough, in the dark and try to play around with a glow stick (like I did, I also bumped into a corner of my desk as a result, leaving me breathless) as she reaches the climax of her song and hits those high notes, owning the surroundings at the same time. No wonder Prince had tweeted her first video for “Hollow” (taken down since), she obviously nails it, and in high fashion.

The approach is very minimalistic, and serves the main instrument in the best of ways. Her stunning voice, won’t leave you un-phased. Check it out :

Leisure – On My Mind + FREE CONCERT

New Zealand super group Leisure have been on our radar for yonks (as you'll find out here) and have always impressed me with their laid back soundscapes and easygoing vocals tied ingeniously with clever lyricism. They remind me JUNGLE on a lower gear. With lush production value and tried and tested signature sounds that are to be enjoyed best in a live setting.
