Dark Light

Hey long time no speak. I’ll correct this and offer you an entirely new post about my last trip to HKG. As you may know by now, I had put down a bid on the system for Hong Kong… When the roster were published, I had 3 back to back Hong Kongs awaiting. Not so good as I like variety in my roster. So I started swaping here and there. Especially with a Mauritius 36hrs layover… Checked the progress today and Crew Schedzz have APPROVED the swap. So I4m thrilled to know that in two days I’ll be laughing at honeymooners on the white sand of the beautiful beaches MRU has to offer.

Ok, that’s a brief summary of the last few days. Let me focus a little bit more on Hong Kong. A part from being one of the biggest container ports in the world, and I saw stacks of them while busing to our hotel, Hong Kong is a thriving, cosmopolitan city I was eager to discover. Unfortunately, we’re in the middle of natural disaster month here in the far east. As a result our departure was delayed for 1h30 minutes from DXB. Leaving us to enjoy the all new crew lounges available at the new CBC (wifi too). Note to all Cabin Crew, lounge #2 has a FREE COFFEE MACHINE (the question is : for how long ??) serving cappucinos, moccacinos and chocomilk for your cafeine needs. That is serious competition for Costa – Rip Off – Coffees. Anyways, as soon as the captain heard of the skies clearing up in Hong Kong we were given the green light to board our Airbus 330-200. I hate Airbus so much. The flight over was long, but pax managed to behave an not hit that call bell too much. But into Hong Kong was a roller coaster. The Flight Deck had warned us of possible bumps into our final approach but never experienced winds of the typhoon aftermath. And it was fun ! Passengers felt a little worried and I was loving my Romeo 3 jumpseat as I could see their faces turning white as we landed on the rain drenched runway. But with extreme handling from the Captain we safely landed. And the passengers clapped their hands away……… *sigh*.

Deplaned swiftly and headed for the hotel. Not as good as I thought it would be. We were put up in less than central Hong Kong, in a 1980’s era hotel with a dark, unlit lobby (they had difficulties with electricity has we arrived. Thankfully they had a generator to provide us with hot water ! Promising for a country hosting the Olympics 2 days later.

Anyways wanted to go sightseeing but the weather wasn’t with me the whole day, it was grey and with rain showers all along the day. So i went for a nice Italian at the top of the hotel with a view over the harbour and ate Duck in balsamic reduction with amazing rosemary spuds.

By the time I’d finished my plate it was wake up call and I needed to get myself shaved before leaving for our return sector. Here is a little insight of my HKG stint, hope you enjoy :
