Dark Light

It’s hard not to compare this brilliant band called 14th with, say, AlunaGeorge and/or The XX. But this London duo has a sound of it’s own. The binary base for it is usually a piano and melancholic vocals, driven by some soulful electro. It’s the kind of sound you wanna listen on a dreamy summer evening hovering above the city lights… when you have a decent balcony that is. They’ve been around for quite some time, and the reviews are raving, see why :

  • “These Londoners kill it!…The music is perfectly pitched future soul” – Time Out
  • “Sensational” – Music Week
  • “Lone piano intros and XX-style duets show a maturity and credibility we’d never have dreamed about when crowds were saying ‘Bo!’” – Mixmag
  • “14th sound like the club night, the after-party, and the chill-out zone all at once – maybe they’re the magic number” – Metro
  • “Melancholic keys, soul fire vocals and shoulder popping two-step rhythms” – Dazed & Confused
  • “Boy-with-his-toys beat-master and big lunged feisty front-woman. Bass-laden dance-pop” – Attitude
  • “Lovin it” – Rob da Bank
  • “Incredible vocals…Genuine soul” – Guardian
