Blubell is a brazilian singer and composer who grew up in São Paulo and since 2006 has a solo career. Before that, she was part of a few bands, made special features in shows of the Brazilian big band Funk Como Le Gusta, and borrowed her voice to jingles for TV commercials. Her first album – Slow Motion Ballet – released independently in 2006, brought only songs written by the composer, except for a version of “Junk”, by Paul McCartney. Slow Motion Ballet was well received by the critics in newspapers such as Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo and was praised by other Brazilian singers like Marisa Monte and Mallu Magalhães.
During the years that followed her debut as a solo artist, she developed a partnership with the jazz quartet À Deriva. In 2009, the song “Chalala”, written and sung by Blubell became the theme of the Tv series Aline, on Rede Globo. In January 2011, Blubell released her second album called ‘Eu Sou Do Tempo Em Que A Gente Se Telefonava’ (“I Come From A Time When We Used To Call Each Other”), trough ybmusic. The record has special features by Baby do Brasil and Tulipa Ruiz.
