Not only is Plastic Mermaids one of the best band names I’ve heard in a while, but they’re also creating some of the most original and exciting music on the other side of the pond.

Hailing from Isle Of Wight, the five-piece combines the colorful oddball arrangements of Cloud Cult, the psychedelic-pop of The Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles, and, perhaps most obviously, the falsetto-heavy melodic ear candy of The Flaming Lips.

Fresh of performances at The Great Escape last week, Plastic Mermaids will be releasing their forthcoming EP Everything Is Yellow And Yellow Is My Least Favourite Colour on Friday.
