Dark Light

With the brand new Madhouse EP out today, Matt Maltese showcases his quirky-soft approach to songwriting and proves once again he can masterfully pen lyrics making him the one to watch in 2020 in our eyes. But that’s half the battle. Flanked by Ben Baptie and Jonathan Rado on production duties, Matt Maltese makes it seem effortless turning the output into an airy impression. Something I’ve personally been wanting to feel after the terrible start of this awful year. 2020, if anything, will have produced some quality music in the midst of dreadful world events. Akin to a Madhouse. Wouldn’t you say?

Matt Maltese is from South London and is 23 years of age. “Madhouse” is the title track of the EP he produced for the most parts on his own and collaborated on a few other tracks including “Madhouse” with Jonathan Rado who worked with Weyes Blood, Whitney, Father John Misty as well as Ben Baptie (Liss, Rex Orange County) whom we mentioned a few times before on the blog. Talent, skill, know-how is what drives this release. “Madhouse” is no exception. Make sure to check Matt Maltese other releases via his SoundCloud profile.

Lyrics:

Home, home sweet home
Live laugh love
These are some things written by the phone
On the wall of this home
Located on nowhere avenue
Don’t understand how everyone lives inside their head

Multicolored ornaments in peoples’ houses make me feel like
No one out there understands me
Well that’s half the battle baby
Continental condiments in peoples’ houses make me happy
Can’t you tell me why I’m empty?
Welcome to the madhouse baby

Memes, beauty dreams, self-help schemes
These are some things I can sit and read
Every dog, every tween
Reckons with a different same old time
Confused and tired
While everyone powers on with life

Multicoloured ornaments in peoples’ houses make me feel like
No one out there understands me
Well that’s half the battle baby
Continental condiments in peoples’ houses make me happy
Can’t you tell me why I’m empty?
Welcome to the madhouse baby

Home sweet home
Live, laugh, love

Multicoloured ornaments in peoples’ houses make me feel like
I’m the only one who’s out here
Everybody feels like that dear
Continental condiments in peoples’ houses make me happy
Can’t you tell me why I’m empty?
Welcome to the madhouse baby

Introducing: Malihini

Before you hear anything from this duo called Malihini, you'll be as intrigued as I was when I find out that this real life Italian couple made of Giampaolo Speziale and Federica Caiozzo are originally from Rome, have chosen a Hawaiian band name that means "Newcomer" and have recorded their upcoming album "Hopefully, Again" in the forgotten dreamscapes and beautiful back country that Wales
