Ooh the power of a few quality music blogs to read and point you out to amazing music on the regular is like having that best friend whispering a good band to discover at the end of good ol’ night out whilst you make a concerted effort to jolt it down on a paper napkin conveniently lying there. As if the planets aligned beautifully for you.
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek’s Yarın Yoksa is one of those stand out tracks you must take the time to listen to right about now. Based out of Berlin, Germany. The eclectic band pumps out psychedelic soul with Anatolian folk with clear funk leanings. Fans of Khruangbin, Gaye Su Akyol and Sapna Awasthi and Suhkwinder Singh will be delighted.
Founded in 2014, this eclectic bunch of musical adventurers brings together talent from across the globe. At the helm is German singer and bağlama virtuoso Derya Yıldırım, whose mesmerizing voice and mastery of the Turkish lute can make even the most stubborn listener swoon. Flankedby two talented Frenchmen musicians: Axel Oliveres on keys, and Antonin Le Gargasson, on bass. In 2022, they leveled up by recruiting South African drummer Helen Wells, whose rhythmic lines are the heartbeat of the group— quite literally.
“Cool Hand”, was the first single released on Big Crown Records in September of 2024. Taken from their show-stopping album Yarin Yoksa that dropped on March 14th 2025.
