Dark Light

Shydiscoboy — artist, multi-instrumentalist, and disco heartthrob in hiding — lures us into the smooth, candy-colored haze of his world with Pourquoi, a track that feels like a midnight joyride through the neon-lit corners of your feelings. Think alternative meets R&B with a splash of Californian funk and a sprinkle of existential dread.

The production? Slicker than your ex’s apology text. Electric guitar riffs shimmer, synth loops swirl, and the whole thing sinks you into a velvet fog of nostalgia and “wait… was that love, or just really good lighting?” Pourquoi asks the hard questions — softly.

Real name Samir (but don’t tell the glitter), Shydiscoboy hails from the wild west of Paris — or at least the part just outside the “périphérique”. That suburban flavor leaks into his sound: one part polished trap, one part disco-pop loop binge, shaken not stirred with a dash of French Touch, and haunted ever so stylishly by the rock and soul legends of the ’70s.

Shydiscoboy - Pourquoi

When he’s not busy crafting earworms solo, he’s been rubbing creative elbows with the likes of PPJ, Le Diouck, Salomé, Yves Tumor, Odunsi the Engine, Le Lij, and Jimmy Whoo. Basically, your favorite artists’ favorite shy disco boy.

“Pourquoi”, the newest single by Shydiscoboy is out today, April 4th on S76.
