Dark Light

The Internet is a beauty of a place. The stuff you come across on there are limitless in their creative scope. From Niarn Cats, to dolphins having a conversation, via memes of Donald Trump of every form and shape. It’s endless, and so is the music. We virtually met Yellow Days aka George van den Broek over Facebook chat earlier this evening. He’s a 16 years old musician, singer and songwriter from London with a voice that recalls the hay-day of Only Real, with hints of King Krule in the instrumentation. It sounds awesome with the headphones, with that in mind, I can’t wait to bask in bliss tomorrow as I pack this bag of mine.

Plenty of guitars to go by, a surf-rock swagger and the musical background of this generation “Y” in tow and fully assimilated, Yellow Days powers through vocally on “My Own Way” and showcases some real potential at such a young age. We also checked with him where he’d sourced his influences, and says he’s heavily influenced by acts like Howlin’ Wolf, Ray Charles, Mac Demarco and Tame Impala to name just a few. Listen to our favorite cut from the upcoming Golden Boy EP George aka Yellow Days is set to release some time within the first half of the year.

We can’t wait to hear the final product once it comes out. We’re absolutely certain he’s going to kill it. Listen instead, and write his name down folks, he’s here to stay !

Steven Robertson – Roof Song

As a last effort, I walked into The Bitter End in Greenwich Village, where a guy in sweatpants and socks was putting on a stadium-sized show for a modest bar crowd. The guy was Steven Robertson, and I still think about that show all the time.
