Dark Light

An email was enough to get me hooked to her tunes. Norvège aka Jill Strange from Chicago in the good ol’ US of A is debuting her musical quest with a track inspired by her recent trip in uber-technological wonder that is EUROSTAR. It’s pleasantly named : “Bisous”. Maybe in reference to that famous Doisneau photograph taken near Hotel De Ville in Paris. That’s what she had to say about the whole shabang :

“My production name is Norvège (which is French for Norway).  I’m a 19 year old film student at Columbia working on a major in Sound for Cinema and a minor in Directing.  Also, I’m always working on other filmmakers’ soundtracks.  And I always do my own soundtracks for my own films…

As for my previous releases, I’ve recently had a single on SurBeats Records called Disco Nap which also was featured on a Ibiza Wizards compilation and I have an upcoming remix on Zebo’s Hotdog Records for Chicago’s new funk band Ghosthouse.”

Dabbling into lush, complex production and eventually ditched that angle all together to focus on the vocals, lyrics and a minimalistic piano instrumental to accompany her. It's a bare bones approach to her music and a bold statement at that. Not hiding behind any effects, or filters. Leaving no margin for error.
