Foxygen is an American indie rock duo originally formed in Westlake Village, California in 2005 by Jonathan Rado and Sam France, “high school kids obsessed with the Brian Jonestown Massacre”. Think Ariel Pink, MGMT, the Doors and the Flaming Lips all blended together with the urge of their teenage years on high dosage of stupefying substances.
Their first studio album, “Take the Kids Off Broadway”, was released by Jagjaguwar in July 2012. On January 22, 2013, Jagjaguwar will release Foxygen’s second and newest album, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic. This album was produced by Richard Swift and recorded at his National Freedom studio earlier this year. “Shuggie,” the first single from the record, was released on October 2, 2012.
