In the 1970s, electronic music began to have a significant influence on popular music, with the adoption of polyphonic synthesizers, electronic drums, drum machines and turntables, through the emergence of genres such as disco, krautrock, new wave, synth-pop, hip hop and EDM. In the 1980s, electronic music became more dominant in popular music, with a greater reliance on synthesizers and the adoption of programmable drum machines such as the Roland TR-808 and bass synthesizers such as the TB-303. In the early 1980s, digital technologies for synthesizers including digital synthesizers such as the Yamaha DX7 became popular and a group of musicians and music merchants developed the Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI).

From Belgium – which in our books is an increasing powerhouse that holds some of the best pop, house and interesting acts Europe has to offer these days – Tessa Dixson delivers a new jam in the name of "Ignited". A sprawling production that drips street-credibility and determination.

Leisure – On My Mind + FREE CONCERT

New Zealand super group Leisure have been on our radar for yonks (as you'll find out here) and have always impressed me with their laid back soundscapes and easygoing vocals tied ingeniously with clever lyricism. They remind me JUNGLE on a lower gear. With lush production value and tried and tested signature sounds that are to be enjoyed best in a live setting.

This stunner of a track came through the submissions and boy did it not disappoint. I knew right there and then, that I'd be covering the track "Tr Pp N" (pronounced Trippin' ?) by Dwen.
