Dark Light

Longing some summer vibes, late nights being lazy with the sound of surf-pop in the background. Well here’s you wintery chance to get those flip-flops out, your best Hawaiian shirt and Panama hat out. We’ve have found the perfect body/soul upper this winter. Call it whatever you like, this is a feel-good track not to miss, BrotherOfSodwee will appreciate mucho as he’s currently in St. friggin’ Lucia living it large in turquoise waters, white sand beaches and getting heavily sunburnt… While we’re all here, on top of each other trying to keep warm. I envy him deeply, and think this track could sum up my motivation to find somewhere nice to lounge and kick back a little (“right-click save as” to download) :

Cayucas – Cayucos

No one knows summer like Santa Monica’s Zach Yudin, a man of leisure who recognizes “the epic” in something as simple as a twilight bicycle ride or a short drive up the coast. As Cayucas, Yudin has set about creating an impressionistic portrait of summer’s long, bittersweet dazzle…

“An avid bird-watcher, Yudin majored in both Music Theory/Production and Japanese. He spent a post-grad year living and teaching in Tokyo, then taking the past couple of years to hone the sound of Cayucas. He posted a couple of songs online, picking up a lot of love and attention, but it was only when he entered the studio with producer/multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift last year that Cayucas was truly defined — sun-inspired jams that touch upon The Animals, Harry Belafonte and the surfer-folk mysticism of the Northwest”

They’re on Secretly Indian, home of Antony & The Johnsons, Jens Lekman, Yeasayer, Suuns.

The lyrics sung both in French and English turn the track into a real sexy, almost sweaty and sultry affair. It's silky-smooth and kind of just melts in your mouth.
