Dark Light
Andy Islands - Sodwee.comANDY ISLANDS – “Parameters” (spin above)… Some stellar production value here in the “Andy Islands 3” EP. The Red Bull Music Academy alumni hails all the way from Cape Town in South Africa and delivers some steady sounds of electronic nature with a distinctive African flavor. We absolutely fell in dire love for “Parameters” last night (“Crashy” is another good track by the way) as we were compiling this rather long post and un-cluttering our inbox. Which was full of some real great tracks and new artists you’re about to discover. Andy Islands though, was our favorite pick and we’ve got to say that we predict his material will travel well beyond the South African borders, at least we hope he gets recognized for his talent. It’s no surprise that he’s already been featured over at Indie Shuffle and we can’t wait to hear/see this producer do some magic on the decks at some prestigious locations around the world. Keep a very close eye on the dude. He’ll make headlines.
Follow him on Facebook and Soundcloud.

OK, strap in, fasten your seatbelts dudes, dudettes, we have a rockin’ selection of the newest and the best tracks available right now. All of them are freshly baked and should fill your fuel tank for this week. If you were looking for interesting tracks, you have come to the right place. Enjoy, make sure you discover the acts other tracks if you dig one we featured ! And of course share this post around you. We’d appreciate it immensely.

With the amount of music I have to spin, I can only select a few to do write ups on – it’s a one man operation here, and my grey cells are dwindling by the hour – so here’s a little weekly bonus selection of music we haven’t had the time to cover but really do recommend nonetheless. Those one liners are where I usually start my posts. It’s packed with the latest tracks, gems, and dancefloor goodness you’ve come to expect from Sodwee.com. Sit back, enjoy those Cloud Droppings and Like us on Facebook

[title maintitle=”BEST OF THE REST” subtitle=”Select tabs on left…”] [tabgroup layout=”vertical”] [tab title=”FOR ESMÉ”]You – electro-organic dream pop from Martha Meredith , Nathan Crook and Dave Thiel based in Toronto, Canada.

[/tab] [tab title=”CLEAN CUT KID”]Vitamin C – Sounds like : Vampire Weekend. Band members include Mike Halls, Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson From Liverpool.

[/tab] [tab title=”DEAD BED BAD”]Lets Get Gone – ‘The nucleus of the outfit is none other than the Trent Reznor of Indie Psych Pop, Jack Gue. With a Bukowski-esque fervor, Gue relates tales of all night benders and failed attempts at love with all the wrong women.’ perfect self-description by band members : John Frederick, Dana Johnson and Chris Loeffler from Columbia, MO. The band delivers some catchy alternative rock / indie rock tunes for the masses.

[/tab] [tab title=”STALGIA”]Rust – another must listen here. Slow, elegant music for your end-of-day needs coupled with your custom-made unwinding bevvie…

[/tab] [tab title=”FJORD”]Irrational – From Québec, hails Fjord and their impeccably produced Ambient slash pop tracks. Irrational is the second track the band has put online after their critically acclaimed debut “Blue” which topped the Hype Machine charts. Also Thomas and Lewis, the duo behind Fjord, are fans of Sodwee.com !

[/tab] [tab title=”BAILE”]Leaves ft. Felicia Douglass – BAILE is the project led by Reed Kackley. a prolific electronic producer from Brooklyn, in the United States. He describes this track as ‘depressed house’ (in a truly good way) and we cannot agree more. However the track transcends with Felicia Douglass’ (Ava Luna) impressive featuring vocals on this masterful track that is due out on the ‘Matter’ EP, on July 21st via the label that cares the most.

[/tab] [tab title=”SLOOOM”]Honey – Their tailor-made moniker, an elongated tweak on the ancient word “sloom” – to slumber or doze – aptly decribes the sound of Austin’s newest ambient pop duo. Slooom evokes the dream state: musically atmospheric, conceptually abstract, and tranquil in effect. And the description evidently transpires fully on newest track ‘Honey’ released less than a week ago… Slooom away to this fantastic track :

[/tab] [tab title=”OMVR”]Hold You Back – For fans of Disclosure. Omar Ahmed is signed to Universal Music in Norway and is about to take over the scene in Oslo. Keep an eye out for a huge rocket rise here.

[/tab] [tab title=”SKEPTA”]#Shutdown Idris Elba Remix – Just because Stringer Bell got bars.

[/tab] [tab title=”BE QUIET”]Ichor – French band from Bordeaux we had covered before, with a very new and very different track from their previous output. This is a lighter attempt and a more mass-friendly track than previous songs. Watch them rise like fresh dough in an airing cupboard !

[/tab] [tab title=”FRIENDS IN PARIS”]Solid – Friends In Paris is a Pop Hop project between a London born singer/songwriter now based in South West Australia and a London based producer. Having formed at the end of 2013 by the power of the world wide web, Friends In Paris is still only a budding flower, yet over the few months the duo have been writing together, they’ve found an enchanting sonic union . Their imminent Debut Ep promises fresh production, haunting melodies, soul and hard hitting beats.

[/tab] [tab title=”IGBO”]Gimmie Gimmie – IGBO is a Brooklyn based outfit with connections in and around the music scene there. IGBO stands for INDIGO – GREEN – BROWN – ORANGE. The band likes to play sounds that come complete with funky horns, jazzy saxophones and an overall funky attitude sometimes leaning towards a rockier edge. We love their track “Gimmie Gimmie”. Note that the vocals are those of Denitia Odigie & Jypsy Jeyfree as well as 10ille
