Dark Light

Brand new signee to the renowned True Panther Sounds label in the name of Isabelle Brown is getting a lot of attention these days for the talent and maturity she puts forward in her music and vocal output. However, she’s still quite the young prodigee. At 15 years of age, the Brighton (UK) native spills out some of the most convincing soul and R&B we’ve heard in a long time. For fans of SZA and Jorja Smith hybrid with deep tones and well written verses.

Here’s someone you are going to hear a lot about in the next coming months. Already collecting industry accolades and critical acclaim from BBC Introducing and Fader magazine. She’s about to break big with the help of her new label True Panther Sounds who’s also home to label mates Lauren Auder, King Krule and, Tobias Jesso Jr. In other words, she’s in real good hands and has plenty of the perfect resources to blossom even further.

I know what you been going through
So let me take you places
I can show you ways that you can be free

Isabelle Brown just belts it out with raw power and in a vulnerable way that can only bring back the rich emotions of Nina Simone and the force-of-nature energy of Tina Turner. Listen to her mixtape (and go ahead download a free copy if you wish) “Only Having A Laugh!!” she released back in February and you’ll soon understand what I’m on about.

To The Fader about the new single “Places” she just released with her new label, Isabelle Brown says :

“’Places’ is about a place you can go where you don’t have to pretend to be something you’re not. You can be yourself and be loved and accepted. When people hear it I’d love it if they got an overwhelming feeling of warmth and happiness, but that’s a bit of a reach so as long as they think the tune is decent then that’s alright with me.”
