Dark Light

All the way from Cape Town in South Africa, comes the local Vampire Weekend-esque band called John Wizards. Revealed by multiple blogs already and acquainted with the likes of Jagwar Ma whilst they’ll be supporting the “Aussie Hit Machine” on the UK leg of their tour! Listen to their new single material below as well as this cracking mixtape they’ve put together for The Quietus who describe the band and their debut as :

John Wizards is an infectious, spacious hybrid pop record, feeling centred around African musics but untethered to any one particular style – as Mu put it, it draws in elements of “African music, R&B and chamber pop, filtered through gentle electronic arrangements that cross-pollinate with South African house, Shangaan electro and dub”.

You cannot go wrong. Really.

John Wizards is released on September 2nd via Planet Mu. For more information and to pre-order,click here to visit the Planet Mu website.

The lyrics sung both in French and English turn the track into a real sexy, almost sweaty and sultry affair. It's silky-smooth and kind of just melts in your mouth.

The electronic trio drips of soulfulness, spacey guitars and warm soundscapes that will take you on a journey.
