Dark Light

“No covers unless they are truly unique” is a paraphrase of what Sodwee told me when I first joined the team here. It’s a good rule, especially when covers rarely turn heads on the original. But in the likeness of James Blake covering “A Case of You,” 19-year-old producer, flybear makes “Wilhelm Scream” a brand new song. In an almost purely acoustic production, flybear fleshes out “The Wilhelm Scream” with drums, jazz and dance-worthy beats. While the James Blake original is atmospheric in nature, warping time and space, flybear‘s cover is crisp in an electronic way that makes you want to rock instead of vibe.
