As if today’s musical landscape wasn’t already close to saturation point. U.S. Girls (Meg Remy’s project) just casually dropped a new video and single for “Pearly Gates” featuring James Baley from upcoming album ‘In A Poem Unlimited’. The last single before she gears up to release her newest album next week and heads on tour to support the effort.
U.S. Girls returns next on February 16th with a brand new collection of tracks out on 4AD. The video (above) was directed by Chrissy Jones who also happens to star in it.

The track revolves around an anecdote about a man trying to convince his partner to engage in unprotected sex as heard from a man in Meg Remy’s entourage. The track is a clear indication of the general feel the album offers and the succulent nature of each track. “Pearly Gates” is easily my favourite cut with the added bonus of James Baley’s featuring on the vocals makes it the perfect pre-soirée tune you might want to play before heading out to your favourite watering hole for a pint, or two.

Meg Remy explains the jist of it to Brooklyn Vegan:
Some years back a story was recounted to me about a man attempting to convince a woman to engage in unprotected sex by saying, ‘Don’t worry, I’m really good at pulling out.’ I thought this was a hilariously stupid thing to say and knew one day I would build a song around this line.
