Dark Light

Daniel Laner and Fernando Fine make up Ruby Red. An up-and-coming surf-R&B duo with all the sun, laid-back swagger and Brazilian funk an Oakland, California band demands. “Superbloom”, the latest single, is about professing your love for someone who already knows full and well. Synth-driven to perfection as they build on their signature sound, the pair of multi-instrumentalist deliver another refreshing piece of music after the previous “How It Should Feel” and “Tell Me” previously covered here on Sodwee.com.

Just as they did on previous tracks, Laner and Fine worked tirelessly on “Superbloom”, until they were happy with it: “It’s like we’re married and each song is a new child you have to fight for custody over.

For fans of Tame Impala, Toro Y Moi, Blood Orange, Porches and MGMT.

“Superbloom” is both fed by melancholy on the lyrical side of the track as well as the happier, danceable drum grooves influenced by Brazilian funk references Fernando sent to Laner while researching potential sound direction for this track. The result is a winner in our opinion. And will leaving you wanting to hit repeat straight away.
