When we like an artist, we don’t hold back, when we like the constant output and exciting prospect an artist puts forward, it becomes even better. Like a good wine, you’ve left hanging on the shelves and you open after a few years, giving it time for it to mature and exceed any expectations. Well that exactly the path Maggie Rogers has taken. She masterfully exceeded every expectation her audience had. From appearing in a viral video/masterclass with no other than Pharrell Williams, to dropping her most powerful track “Dog Years” and today releasing the rather upbeat “On + Off”. The twenty-something from Maryland, who studied music at New York’s well-known Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at prestigious NYU has set the bar real high for her year 2017. She also about to embark on her headlining tour for which we managed to secure a pair of tickets for you to attend (simply enter your details in the giveaway section further down).
Like the previous 3 tracks on her debut EP Now That The Light Is Fading, arriving February 17. Maggie Rogers pulls it off with class and a well composed blend of Dancey folk. She draws her inspiration mainly from travel and traditional folk music as well as from recent electronic scenes from around the world. And pours them all into her craft to deliver real gems. “On + Off” is her latest track, take a listen and leave us your details to enter the giveaway for her show on February 24th at Point Éphémère in Paris.
