Premiered last night on Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record’ for Beats1 radio. Rex Orange County is a self-taught 18 year old singer – songwriter – drummer from Haslemere in Surrey (UK). He initially uploaded a string of tracks that tickled the fancy of Tyler, The Creator, BadBadNotGood and Two Inch Punch no less. The talented teenager went on to release his first single ‘UNO’ in November last year.
Today he’s back full throttle forward with his second installment named ‘Best Friend’ available for purchase on all digital platforms.
‘Best Friend’ is about being friend-zoned. It’s DIY methods in its purest form with dreamy guitar, sultry/raw vocals topped with some hushed brass to round things off nicely. For fans of Yellow Days , Willie J Healey and Loyle Carner. Listen to the beauty below :
