Dark Light

I’ve covered my favorite band of 2016 – Formation – many many times before. Today the South-London twin-brother duo drops a new video and track called “A Friend”. Not that long ago, it was all about “Drugs“. Today we witness the love/hate relationship of an unnamed man (Isaac Money, australian actor based in London according to IMDB) fighting with Will Ritson (one of the twins in the band) who himself seems to impersonate some sort of addictive substance (my personal take on the lyrics and music video). Fighting against, kissing, embracing his addiction half-way through the video and ultimately coming to ends with it in an ultimate punch. It’s very effective story-telling, the video is very well produced and directed by David Silis in a London underground subway carriage. The track is all you’d expect from Formation too : Groove, power and know-how dominate throughout the performance. Cow-bells still here to add a little fantasy to the picture and lyrics. And Dang!, those lyrics are good :

Enjoy the video above, follow them on their socials people, they’re here to last.

Also frenchies, catch the awesome live show these chaps put on on the 3rd of April at La Maroquinerie in Paris, and on February 4th (this Saturday see Facebook event) in Lyon at Le Transbordeur for the Transfer Festival…
