Dark Light

Hey dudes, dudettes, here is our first “PREMIERE”. Róisín O is from Dublin, Ireland, age 22, has been writing songs since she was sixteen and more recently started gigging in some of Dublin’s hot spots: Whelans, The Village, Vicar Street and The Olympia. She has a beautiful tone of voice akin to artists like Joni Mitchell, Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush (as per The Sunday Times). And boy can she belt out some fine notes. Her near perfect pitch transports you beyond. Cuddled in cotton-clouds, you will gently sway into a different state. A little like her male counterpart, Ajimal before her, this gal delivers, big time ! We premiere her “Hold On” video here today so you get a clear idea of what we are trying to convey. The video itself is just as beautiful. Directed and edited by Simon Eustace, and featuring Aaron Heffernan (Love/Hate), Mirjana Rendulic, Geraldine McAlinden & Colin Condon. Róisín O has recently been supporting names such as The Coronas, Imelda May and Robert Cray.

Talking about Hold On, Róisín O explains:

Sometimes our minds take us to dark places and it gets hard to escape. A very close friend of mine was going through a tough time, as happens us all, and I found myself wanting, but unable, to help make things better for him. Sometimes all you can do for someone is to be there for them and let them know that things will get better one day. This song is for him.

Róisín O is quite the busy lady these days. She just came off her debut US headlining tour and is embarking on her European leg later this fall for 17 dates as she just signed with JSM in Germany. Busy busy busy ! Hopefully she’ll have some time to stop by in Paris, France so we can catch her live performance.

Her debut album ‘The Secret Life of Blue’ will be released in Germany, Austria & Switzerland on October 4th. Keep your ears peeled for this voice !
