Dark Light

Now now. After many listens, and the sheer amount of people talking about them in my circles (Shoutout : Mériam, Renan), I decided to Introduce the up-&-coming band Cliché from Bordeaux (South West of France). They’ve been around heavily since the release of their debut self-titled EP back in October and by the sound of it, are here to stay. They’ve produced themselves live a bunch of times already. Each time growing their fanbase a little more.

It’s light hearted pop, with French lyrics and kick arse arrangements made to make you wiggle, or dance frantically. It’s up to you. It’s the kind of tune you wanna repeat as soon as it finishes. The kind of track with enormous added value. From the electronic elements, the witty lyrics or even the background vocals. Every piece is an invitation to let things go, and just enjoy the given moment.

The 5-piece band, is a well blended hybrid between Air, Serge Gainsbourg and French pop dinosaur like Alain Bashung. Elegantly written tracks are a welcome treat to make us go through these harsh winter days. And the EP is packed full of them. Namely “Hélicon” (above) and “Shalom”… Listen and watch these timeless tunes. And if you’re in and around Paris on the 9th of December 2014, catch them live at Monseigneur in company of l’Impératrice, for their free Parisian show in one of the hottest venues to have graced the streets of the french capital in a long time.

Cliché‘s self-titled EP is out now via microqlima records and available in digital & vinyl formats. Stream the entire EP below and get a lick of the awesome dollops :
